1864roverite - Colin Hendry is going to win hands down, a great talisman, good defender and converted goal scorer.
Duff's Minder - Got to be big Colin, if only for the time he tackled Paul Ince in the box with his head...
Speedie - I've not decided on my vote yet. Hendry was great, a crowd pleaser who played with his heart, he had to, his skill level wasn't up to much.
billy - Colin? we all know how good he was, a centre half you want in your side for he's enthusiasm, and attitude, but l think he always needed a player next to him with a calming influence, to stop him straying out of position.
tonyoz - the man who held the team together during the championship season.......the man who put his body on the line game after game.....who can forget his performance away at everton? ..........where he stuck his head in the melee of boots in the penalty area...simply because it was the only part of his body that he could put between everton and the goal......totally bloody inspirational.
its the clearest choice of all for me.......
Colin Hendry........sir!
Tango Colin Hendry was, however, a great favourite of mine - he looked like some Scottish tribal warrior and his physical presence and shear power were mightly impressive. He also made Mark Crossley look a right pillock with a header that Crossley managed to spoon over the line, so he can't be bad!
tonyoz Not quite true Glenn.........i saw Woods, Ehgland and Hendry play and for me it is simple.......its got to be Colin.
He was the rock on which our championship team was built and some of his performances that year were colossal. I remember Alan Hansen (after the away leeds fixture i think) saying that he would have been proud to have put in such a performance.
RovermattHendry every time for me. While I'm unable to relate to previous greats, as Jim will often remind us, I'm pretty sure I know class when I see it. Hendry was a fantastic player, a supreme competitor and a Championship winning centre-half. He may not have played for us when the crowd all wore winter jackets and tweed caps, but he was pretty damn good nonetheless.
